The Center for Urinary and Intestinal Continence at St. Anthony's Hospital now offers a valuable service for patients and referring physicians. The new fully-equipped Anorectal Physiology Laboratory offers a number of comprehensive diagnostic tests that provides important information about the function and anatomy of the anus and rectum.
The tests available at the Anorectal Physiology Laboratory include anorectal manometry and endoanal and endorectal ultrasound. The state-of-the-art imaging equipment in the Anorectal Physiology Lab are utilized to look at the anal canal anatomy for anal sphincter tears, chronic anal infections, rectal/anal tumors, staging of rectal/anal cancers, follow-up for cancer recurrence, evaluation of loss of bowel control, and other disorders. Referring physicians are provided a complete, written, fully-interpreted report on the testing that has been performed on their patients.
The Center for Urinary and Intestinal Continence is one of only a few comprehensive colorectal health centers in the Southeast exclusively dedicated to the surgical treatment of colorectal diseases and bowel incontinence.
